One of my favourite foods in the world is chips (or fries, however you like to call them)!
They just taste so good to me but usually they are fried or blanched and then fried which makes them pretty unhealthy! But since I still want to eat my chips, I’ve come up with a much healthier version which is baked. Sometimes you’ll see in baked chips recipes that blanching is also required but that is just sooo tedious to me! My oven-baked chips taste just as good without any blanching and are the absolute easiest, quickest and most convenient chips to make!
They’re chunky, soft on the inside, have a slight crunch and lots of flavour on the outside. So I hope you enjoy my go-to recipe for some chunky oven-baked chips! They seriously come out great every time! I also show you how to make a yummy garlic guacamole dip that goes perfect with these chips!

Potato Fries
2 large potatoes with the skin on
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tbsp dried parsley
3 tbsp olive oil
Salt
Pepper
Guacamole Dip
1 ripe avocado
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp garlic powder (more or less depending on your preferences)
Salt
Pepper
Potato Fries
Preheat your oven to 225 degrees celsius or 450 degrees fahrenheit with the fan-forced setting.
Wash the potatoes, then pat them dry with a paper towel. Cut them into chunky long pieces, around 1.5cm (0.6 inches) thick.
Transfer the potato pieces into a freezer bag (otherwise a large bowl) and add in all of the other “potato fries” ingredients.
Twist the freezer bag a few times at the top to close it and give it a good shake to coat the potato pieces with the seasoning.
Transfer to a baking tray lined with aluminium foil and make sure the potato pieces are not touching each other.
Bake in the preheated oven for around 20 minutes until golden or slightly charred.
Guacamole Dip
When the chips are almost done baking, make your guacamole dip. Transfer the avocado flesh to a bowl and squeeze the lemon juice onto it.
Mash the avocado with a fork until smooth.
Add in all of the other dip ingredients and mix to combine.
